Earlier in the day, Mali reached their first ever FIFA U-17 World Cup final courtesy of a resounding come-from-behind 3-1 victory against Belgium. The two sides were familiar contenders having being in Group D together and played a very tightly contested goalless tie in their first match.
It was a different game entirely today as a total of four goals were scored in a very pulsating game. The Europeans had taken the lead through Dante Rigo, but Boubacar Traore's swift response was followed by second half goals from Sidiki Maiga and Sekou Koita.
Mali's historic victory means they will face the defending champions, Nigeria on Sunday, with Belgium facing the Mexican side in the play-off for third place earlier the same day in Vina Del Mar
Get ready to go home with silver, Mali
