Chelsea woes continue: bundled out of League Cup via penalties

Struggling Chelsea were knocked out from the Capital One Cup by by Stoke despite forcing penalties with a 91st minute goal from Loic Remy, who had come in for Diego Costa in the 33rd minute.
Ramires missed a golden early chance to put Chelsea ahead as he rounded the goalkeeper, but misplaced his effort and hit the side netting.
John Terry thought he had given the Blues the lead, but his flick was ruled out for the offside and Diego Costa went off injured with what looked like a rib injury before half-time. However, shortly after the break, Stoke went ahead as Jonathan Walters hammered a 52nd-minute shot in off the bar. Chelsea tried to find a way back into the game and had to wait until the final minute as Remy scrambled an equalising effort over the line. Phil Bardsley was sent off for Stoke but the 10 men held on to force spot kicks. After some incredible penalties, Hazard stepped up and saw his effort saved as the Blues went out.

In other matches; Championship side Hull shocked Premier League high-flyers Leicester City on penalties to move into the quarter-finals of the League Cup. Midfielder David Meyler struck the winning fifth penalty as the Tigers scored all their efforts, with Riyad Mahrez hitting the post for the Foxes.

While at Goodison Park, the same penalty drama played out as the match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes. Norwich City's Wesley Hoolahan and Nathan Redmond both missed their spot kicks, easing Everton's way into the quarter-finals.
