Liverpool v Bournemouth
Liverpool are searching for their first victory under Jurgen Klopp,
who replaced the embattled Brendan Rodgers earlier this month. But Klopp insists he is happy with his side's progress in the three matches
of his reign. Liverpool will
be without strikers Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge for
the visit of Premier League rivals Bournemouth in the League Cup. Both have knee injuries, with Benteke picking his up in Sunday's draw with Southampton, while James Milner is banned after earning five bookings. Bournemouth will assess some minor injuries after the 5-1 loss at Spurs. Tommy Elphick (ankle), Callum Wilson, Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel (all knee) are out with long-term injuries.
Man City v Crystal Palace
Palace
will need to win at City for the first time since 1990 if they are to
reach the Capital One Cup quarter-finals. Alan Pardew's side, who have never won the League Cup or FA Cup, have striker
Dwight Gayle back from a ban for the trip to the Premier League leaders. City midfielder Samir Nasri returned to training this week after a hamstring
injury but is not yet match fit. Sergio Aguero and David Silva remain out, while Fernandinho is suspended. City manager Manuel Pellegrini fielded a strong side in this competition last
time out as his side swept Sunderland aside 4-1 at the Stadium of Light. But with a key Champions League trip to Sevilla scheduled three days after
the weekend's home meeting with Norwich, Pellegrini could shuffle his pack.
Southampton v Aston Villa
Ronald Koeman will rotate his team for the visit of managerless Villa in their all-Premier League Capital One Cup tie. Sadio Mane is suspended after his red card at Liverpool, while Shane
Long and Jay Rodriguez are out injured. Aston Villa, playing for the first time since Tim Sherwood's sacking have a fully-fit squad to choose from. Caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald may decide to recall striker Libor Kozak and
winger Charles N'Zogbia. Before he was dismissed on Sunday, Sherwood confirmed centre-back Ciaran
Clark would be available after a thigh injury, while fellow defender Jores Okore
(knee) could also feature. Villa are bottom of the Premier League following Saturday's 2-1 home defeat
by Swansea - their sixth successive top-flight defeat.
Man Utd v Middlesborough
Manchester
United will be without winger Antonio Valencia - who has a foot injury - for
their Capital One Cup fourth-round tie against Middlesbrough. Winger Ashley Young (calf) and striker James Wilson (illness) could feature. Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing is fit to play despite suffering from a
knock to the ribs. Midfielders Albert Adomah and Adam Forshaw are both major injury doubts, but
loan signing from Manchester City, Bruno Zuculini, could make his debut.
